How to run business in Belarus
First steps after company registration

First, you need to appoint a director and notify the executive committee of his appointment. If the director is a citizen of Belarus or a person with a residence permit, then this is easy to do. To hire him, you need to conclude a contract with him and write an application to the executive committee.

If the director is the foreign founder himself or another foreigner, then before his appointment he must obtain a work permit. To apply, you need a copy of the translation of the director’s passport into Russian, a copy of his diploma and preferably a letter confirming his work experience.

It should be noted that the founder of a company will be able to obtain a temporary residence permit in Belarus only on the basis of a work permit. Just registering a company and becoming its founder is not enough to obtain a residence permit in Belarus. Also, to obtain a residence permit in Belarus, a foreigner need conclude an agreement to rent an apartment or buy an apartment and take out an insurance policy.

After a director has appeared in the company, you can open a bank account and order a company stamp. Bank accounts in Belarus are opened free of charge and there are usually no problems with this. When choosing a bank, I recommend to clarify which countries the bank works with if you need to make foreign payments.

The next step is to conclude a contract with an accounting company. In our country, every company needs to file a tax return every three months. The declaration is submitted even if the company did not have any revenue or any transactions in the bank account. The declaration is sent by an accountant - so it is very important to find the proper person. We recommend hiring an accounting company at the first stage. this will save you money compared to hiring an in-house accountant.

It is also advisable to conclude a long contract with a lawyer who will help you deal with all the issues at first.
